Re: Vote For Policies
I support compulsory voting and proportional representation.
Maybe that comes from growing up voting in Australia but it seems a more sensible system.
Also means I've voted in every election I have been eligible for in the UK as I see it as a duty and a responsibility.

I'm 44% Labour, 33% Green , 11% Lib Dem ....... & 11% BNP
& voting in an electorate that was won by 42 votes last time.

"Most people dont even know what the party they vote for represents.

Most know that there is very little to seperate the parties in terms of Policy.

Most know it doesnt make a blind bit of difference."

There is massive clear blue water between the two main parties and now in a world of multi party politics there's no excuse not to vote.

Some people are just lazy.

They like a nice bitch and moan though.

Re: Vote For Policies
Voting is about feeling vaguely important once every 4.5 years. Unless you live in a safe seat adn support the alternative. Then its about rank unfairness and imbiciles. The only solution is direct government.

You'd favour compulsory shagging of fit blokes but what does that matter?

Whats the point in making people vote?

Most people dont even know what the party they vote for represents.

Most know that there is very little to seperate the parties in terms of Policy.

Most know it doesnt make a blind bit of difference.

Politics needs to engage the public, not the other way around.

Joke I favour compulsory voting like they do in Australia.

I reckon the government should introduce a policy of "A free pint/prayer mat/peanut with every vote cast". That should tempt about 95% of the population into the booths.

Re: Vote For Policies
Policies? Like you mean those our manager has for winning football matches?

I'd much rather a party say "We aim to do this, We'd like, ideally, to do that and the chances of doing one or both depend on the other".

For instance "We'd like to improve patient care at the point of delivery in the NHS" would probably be a "like" for all voters: the game-changer would be how they plan to do so.

Throwing more money at the problem has been proven not to work (if you can remember that far back), so any party suggesting that as a solution would "score badly". Likewise whole scale privatisation - that seems, to me, to just be another way of helping the rich get richer. Trim the bureaucracy? Now I'm listening. Tell me more.

It's easy for anybody with a computer/smartphone to throw together a spreadsheet (/App, if you're cool & hip) to help you actually see the wood for the trees: just rant each party's offering on things YOU (not somebody else) think are important, turn the handle and you'll get a pointer - not a mandate - based solely on what YOU fed into the system,/spreadsheet/app.

Re: Vote For Policies
When you see the scum who have been allowed into this country its clear that policies mean absolutely nothing to the Conservative party. At least with Labour you know that they are out to fuck the country up.
